Drawers at South Studios

I've been organising this show for the last month, and I can't wait for it to happen. We'll have 26 illustrators, designers, architects, photographers and a fashion stylist each working on their own small chest of drawers, customising it in their own style. It's going to be an amazing show, just from the few things I've seen so far. I still haven't decided what to do for mine. I'll be working on the day of the show with the 12 other illustrators who will be making their pieces from scratch. It's only on for one night, so try to get down if you can. We'll be posting photos of all the chest on Flickr when it's done.

We're having a show of customised chests of drawers next Friday, here at South Studios. Here's a couple of ideas I had, worked up in Photoshop.

The Red Sketchbook

I travelled around the world for ten months in 2005. I kept a few sketchbooks of the trip, making portraits of some of the people I met. Approaching people in parks, on trains and trams, people in bars, people I was teaching English to, fellow travelers, it wasn't hard to get people to sit for a while. This is one of the books I kept, an Indian pad of handmade paper.

I painted 33 Irish pubs for this Guinness beermat campaign. That's a LOT of painting...
